Restaurant Manager – Gusto Caledon

Job Summary
Gusto Caledon is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our full-service restaurant and bar. The successful candidate will lead the front-of-house team, ensure exceptional customer service, maintain high operational standards, and manage both restaurant and bar operations. This is a hands-on management position that requires strong leadership, organization, and bar knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar.
- Lead, train, coach, and supervise front-of-house staff.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new employees.
- Create weekly staff schedules and manage labour costs.
- Ensure all opening and closing procedures are completed properly.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and guest satisfaction.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure food and beverage quality meets company standards.
- Manage bar operations, including cocktail quality, beer and wine service, inventory, and responsible alcohol service.
- Monitor inventory levels and place food, beverage, and supply orders.
- Control food and beverage costs while minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, liquor licensing, and food handling regulations.
- Perform daily cash reconciliation and monitor sales performance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant, bar, kitchen, washrooms, and dining areas.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during all shifts.
- Support restaurant promotions, events, and marketing initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience in a full-service restaurant.
- Minimum 2 years of bartending or bar management experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and responsible alcohol service.
- Experience managing both restaurant and bar operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience with staff scheduling, hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Experience with inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
- Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Smart Serve Certification is required.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
- Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
